Community Bridges provides substance abuse related emergency Crisis Care Services at no charge to homeless, indigent, and working poor individuals at our Central City Addiction Recovery Center (CCARC) and our East Valley Addiction Recovery Center (EVARC). These medically directed services are necessary to properly triage each person's emergent detoxification needs with protocols established by the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM).
Medical Detoxification
Community Bridges' Medical Detoxification program insists on a standard of "Detox with Dignity" to reclaim lives, save families, and return productive citizens back to the community. Our medical teams of

physicians, who are Board Certified Addictionologists, Registered Nurses, Licensed Independent Substance Abuse Counselors, and Emergency Medical Technicians develop and administer medical protocols (generally 3 to 7 days) designed to prevent the loss of life that can occur when individuals with complex medical, physical, and psychiatric conditions attempt to withdraw from long periods of addictive use without medical supervision.
Detoxification treatment plans also include: substance abuse/co-occurring disorder treatment planning and counseling; case coordination and case management services to help each participant develop hope and
direction during the patient's period of detoxification. This program is designed to stop the "Revolving

Door Syndrome" and ensure all homeless, indigent, and working poor men and women referred to Community Bridges are clinically triaged, safely detoxed, referred into a therapeutic continuum of care, and not released back to the streets of Valley cities. Medical detoxification beds are available at both Addiction Recovery Centers. Community Bridges provides these services at no charge to individuals transported to these facilities from throughout the Valley of the Sun. There are 16 medical detoxification beds at the East Valley ARC and 16 at the Central City ARC providing over 3,000 bed days each year.
Transition Management
In an effort to reduce the revolving door use of scarce public services, Community Bridges created a collaboration of agencies to address the needs of the chronic substance abusing population. This partnership called the "Co-location Project" consists of over 10 agencies who utilize the newly remodeled front portion of our Central City Addiction Recovery Center to do on-site referral and placement to assure an effective continuum of care for those in need.
In 1997, Community Bridges' pioneered a method of transition management that ensures each of the clients we serve in our clinical programs receives an opportunity to accept case coordination and referrals to the next best level of care, housing, and job opportunities.
Crisis Response Team
Community Bridges' Crisis Response Team (CRT) began operating at the Central City Addiction Recovery Center in July 2003 and directly responds to calls for assistance from the Phoenix Fire Department and Phoenix Police Department. This service is available on a 24/7 basis.
